The Crusty Cob, nestled at 3 Eldon St in Tuxford, is a delightful café that has quickly become a favorite among locals and travelers alike. Customers rave about its affordable, home-cooked meals and the welcoming atmosphere created by the friendly staff. Ruth Roddison highlights the pleasant lunches at reasonable prices, while Louise Carson can't stop boasting about the delicious tuna melt and the massive cookie cake that both tantalized her taste buds and left her wanting for more.
Dove Hunts refers to this café as a "little gem" in a market town, praising the tasty, hot food coupled with lovely cakes. Additionally, Leigh Wood suggests it as the perfect stopover while traveling along the A1, particularly favoring the Chorizo and Tomato Hash—a must-try dish that exemplifies the café's commitment to fresh ingredients over mass-market sourcing.
Whether you’re after a generous breakfast, a light lunch, or a scoop of brilliantly prepared dessert like the cornflake tart, The Crusty Cob offers a concise yet diverse menu that caters to all. Each visit promises a warm, fulfilling experience that'll have you returning time and again.

I nipped in on my lunch today, I have never been here before and if I am ever in the area I will come again! The tuna melt was really good but what I most looked forward to was the massive cookie cake! It did not disappoint! Before I had even 2 bites my partner had devoured most of it but I had a back up and it was a cornflake tart, absolutely banging. 10 out 10

A fantastic stop off when travelling along the A1. Avoid the Markham Moor services and go here instead for tasty home cooked food and friendly welcoming service. I had the amazing Chorizo and Tomato Hash and it was superb. Desert was lovely too, so tasty. The food is not bought from mass market suppliers and the team are so friendly and helpful. I cannot recommend highly enough and will be back with my family.

Great little place to enjoy breakfast or light lunch. We had two breakfasts the food was generous, hot and served with a smile. Their coffee is really good and my wife had a generous pot of tea. Their menu is wide ranging but at the same time concise so your not overly presented with all sorts of options, simple with good range of offerings. All in all a really good experience. Wheelchair access is good but some of the tables are quite close together so may cause a problem. Will certainly go again when in the area.

Had one of their 'chicken giros' as I called it and it was very good, did recommend to Lou Lou when she asked me if it was ok that the chicken be cut into smaller pieces.

Wonderful little place. We stopped by this morning, and both breakfast and lunch items were available all day. Had the coronation chicken and it was a hearty portion - bigger than expected, and bigger than most places! Waitress was incredibly friendly and went out of her way to make us feel welcome.
